Our mission is to provide parents with information about the use of modern cloth nappies and other reusable and recyclable products, so they can make an informed decision about what they purchase and how it could benefit their family and the environment.
Hi there,
Ann here, I am the proud owner of Close Parent Australia, and I am mum to three energetic little boys.
I took over Close as the Australian Distributor on December 1st, 2019. My first step towards what I hope is to be a full time Work From Home Mum. This operation is run only by myself, Me, team of one, but occasionally I have the help of my wonderful husband and my beautiful little sisters (especially when I attend exhibitions).
Life is full of surprises. Parenthood is an amazing journey that is full of ups and downs. Many memorable moments to be made, some will bring you so much joy, and others, well, all you can do it just laugh and cry while sitting in the pantry sneaking in some alone time with a tub of chocolate ice-cream.
I currently work part-time as well as run my little business. I do most of my order packing and replying to emails and messages at night after the kids go to sleep. Please be patient, I will reply as soon as I can.
What are my values and motivations?
I value honesty, & simplicity. Life is already complicated. Be honest, it might just be simpler that way.
My motivation and reason for supporting the use of reusable items is not because I am a hippie (as most of my family & friends would call me) but because every little thing we do as a human has a huge impact on the world. I am happy knowing I'm doing my part to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
I'm teaching my kids to be mindful about their wastage and hopefully something will resonate with them when they grown older. I'm in no way perfect and sometimes don't live up to these values but that's just being human right? You are allowed to have moments of weakness, cave and give in to societal norms.
My Experience with Reusable Products...
When I was growing up and my sisters were born my mum used the traditional old school terry squares.
I never thought that when I had kids I would use cloth nappies but in February 2014 when my son was born I did just that.
I started with hand-me-downs terry squares from my mum that she had used on me and my two younger sisters.
Of course I still used disposables, I was not caught up in the world of Modern Cloth Nappies (MCN) yet. That was until I went looking for a pilcher so my son's pants wouldn't get wet especially when out-and-about, and then I was exposed to the world of MCNs.
It wasn't until I had my second son (October, 2015) that we (hubby and I) were comfortable with using cloth full-time. We just weren't having any luck with night nappies with our first and gave up too easily and used disposables for bed time.
I have used Close Pop-in Nappies on my boys and I love the product. I wish I had discovered them when we were trialing night nappies on our first born. I have used many different types of cloth nappies and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
I am a supporter of breastfeeding. I have breastfed all my boys, one after the other non stop. Reusable nursing pads are well worth the money. Definitely an advocate for our nursing pads. Contoured to fit the breast. They're absorbent and comfortable.
Sanitary/Menstrual Pads are honestly my proudest non-living creation for women products. They are comfortable, slim and absorbent. I may be biased but you should definitely buy a set and try them out.
